    Default Back up..................

I have just returned home after setting up for tonight's karaoke up my local club.
All was going well then the laptop decided not to talk to the denon4500 , deck one worked fine , apart from there was no information on the display , deck two just sat there , nothing.
Out comes the backup laptop , same files , same everything , presto , all working .
Next the small mixer I use for the karaoke mics just refused to work , as luck would have it , in the spares box, I have a 2 into 1 jack plug , out from both receivers went into the plug , and then onto the mic 2 input on the 4500 , all working.. .
Just goes to show that nothing is fool proof , and things that have worked for ages , can and will break down.

I had the same problem last night.

Half way into the night, dance floor absolutely rammed, my pc just died. Totally frozen and wouldn't do anything. All music went off and that was it. Countless boos etc from the crowd.

Luckily, I always have a CD cued up on the player, so i came on the mic, apologised and pressed play.

Quick restart of the pc and all worked fine.

That CD saved my life and I just wanted to fall in a big hole.

Total loss of sound was about 5 seconds, but it was the longest if my life.

I made a up last night. Pressed the wrong play button
i am normally very good at not making any audio mistakes. Generally does not ever happen.

I always ignore it, but last night said "sorry about that pressed the wrong button" and everyone laughed.

Luckily not had a kit issue for a long time.

Yes you do. I always have 2 backup mixers with me just in case and cables that I could bypass straight from the laptop to the actives if needs be.

I always have the android pad cue up, cortex and laptop which sort of relay in each other type of situation

    Laptop if cortex goes down
    Cortex if laptop goes down
Android pad if either go down

You can see what i mean lol

If the above fail then ill say sorry and see what works first lol

Just spent £150 on a new mixer. I feel a lot better now...

It's time to buy the sub, Toby's LD Dave has got me interested.

Sorry that its just for the mac guys but I use this bit of software to keep a bootable back up

    http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDup...scription.html

If my hard drive went in my mbp I could borrow someone else's mac etc and boot from my back up and it would be an identical machine set up with all my music in place etc

    Its a great system

I also carry some CDs and my ipod for worse case
