    Default Best Mirrorball type light?

What have people found to be the best mirrorball effect? (apart from an actual mirrorball)

My ADJ Starball is OK'ish in general, but doesn't project enough beams forward for First Dances (maybe having a pair would be better?)

I'm contemplating the Jellydomes x 2 (which a know a few people use on here) and have even looked at the Spherion - but it's so ugly!

Something like the ADJ Sparkle could work for the FD as it can be pointed where you need it.

    Any other ideas, experiences?

That's what I've got - an ADJ Starball and 2 x Sparkles. I clamp one Sparkle to each speaker stand and place the Starball at ground level in front of the Starcloth. You need haze though.

Which is brighter, the star ball or the sparkles?
Can you have the sparkles without any movement?

    Thanks.

You know that we've been very impressed with the little jelly domes, Martin.

For a cheapish light, they've got great controllability (speed, etc), and the ambient light from them is great. They're ugly as hell when turned off, but once turned on they're fine.

Here's a not-very-good short video of them in action:-

and here's a few thumbnail photos where the only lighting was the jelly domes and a mirror ball in a very fairly large room (240 sit-down capacity), so all the colour is from the jelly domes.

They are both 3w led so they are about the same brightness, and yes you can have the Sparkles on static.

Thanks folks - so far a pair of Jellydome's is looking favourite due to the additional colourwash effect.

The ADJ Sparkles can be set to slow rotation or static. They are quite bright and very small and compact. I have two of them on the ends of my goalposts and use them for first dances and to put movement on the ceilings.

They look great with smoke or haze and the beams are quiet sharp.

Alchemy - I tried mine on speaker stands too and they worked well but I think I prefer them above.

The video of the jellydomes doesn't do them justice.

    A) The camera was on it's way out

    B) There was ambient lighe from behind & to the left of where it was being shot from

First time I have seen them and they look good. Is the speed adjustable? I like the very slow rotation on them in the video and the extra colour they give out. The ADJ Sparkles aren't speed adjustable and the speed that they are set to is a bit quicker than the Jellies.

[Edit] - Just did a search and seen that they are adjustable....just a pity they look ugly.

Yes, the speed is adjustable via UC3 controller (or obviously via DMX), so works great for a first dance.

Also work sound to light if you prefer later in the evening.

EDIT: Was posting before your edit!

Yep - as I said above - ugly as hell before they're turned on!
