What is your Standard Audio Quality?
I have been at a loss since a certain website that offered millions of wav tracks for download has been out of action since May. (Needing to buy lots of extra CDs instead.)
I had asked the question as to what site others are using for wav files but got no response. So there either isn't a suitable alternative or you all use a lossy format.
Really can't believe it could be the latter so thought would ask a quick poll question.
What is your standard audio quality for digital playback?

AAC is a compressed WAV quality wise. There isn't much between them. Better than a 320 mp3. Even then a 320 mp3 there is no significant difference with the PAs that we use! The only place that a lossy format can cause havoc is in the recording industry!

Interesting thread Lee.
I use Amazon, I don't think there is any choice on how the tracks are downloaded?
I have checked on a couple of tracks and they vary between 119-260 kbps. (is this too low?)
Lee, do you notice a big difference in the quality of wav against say MP3?
I am still learning on all of this, but if a track is ripped from CD, (wav) is it going to be better quality than say a track downloaded mp3 from Amazon?

The Guys who use the 320kbps mp3s, where do you get them, as Amazon seem to be a lot less than that.

Yes. Though I am going to avoid my usual diatribe (lots of other posts to be found on the differences) as everyone has their reasons for accepting the format they use.
I just want to see how many of use lossy or lossless.

Yep, but its shameful that itunes still sells allot of 125.
Before I understood this concept I would say that 8/10'th is from itunes and at this rate which is not good.
I have to say I have not really noticed the difference massively and the client definitely not as my hearing is sensitive being a voice over artist.

Now I am intrigued. I can't say for certain but thinking about it now all my ripped cds have a superb sound quality. Compared to a lot of downloaded tracks.
