    And wrong.

NaD will generate leads, no question. A decent website will help you to convert them. Before I had mine overhauled, one request feedback implied that I'd have been booked, but for a below par website.

It is possible to get bookings without a flashy website, but it's not unknown for customers to book on the strength of a posh website.

I think it all depends on your client - I ask after an event if the client looked at my website and roughly 1/4 say they never looked at it prior to making their decision.

The point really is that Dicky doesn’t need to wait until he gets his website spot on before joining NeedaDisco.

Absolutely, totally and unquestionably true. The sooner he joins, the better, what has he to lose? Nothing, but possibly lots to gain.

So, I've decided to give NAD a try. I've been 'Uhhming' and 'Ahing' about it for a while now. For just under £150, it's worth a try I guess.

I've done okay from leads from there this year. I have had 9 bookings so far this year (including New Years Eve).
I don't rely on work from there though and any work I get from there is a bonus.
If you only get one booking then your subscription is paid for.

Why not Benny, I've taken two bookings from it this week alone worth £600+.

    hahaha!
My subscription fees must be a lot less than yours...
Why not aim high and at least charge £40?

Pfft! You wouldn't get that rarnd 'ere!

In all seriousness though, I don't buy into the 'one gig pays for it' mentality. For every penny I earn, 50% goes to one side so it can pay for George Osbourne's champagne habit (it is too much, but it's better to have extra than not enough). Adding in the extra expenses of doing the gig itself, one gig will 'pay for itself' but not enough left over to make it worth my while. After all, beer & pizza isn't free!

Now the '10 times the subscription' certainly looks like it'd be more worthwhile. I don't forsee this being my main source of income, but if it gets me 10 gigs over the next twelve months to fill some gaps, then I'll be happy enough.
