Its almost that you are not as good as the next DJ if you do not have a set of uplighter.
Really? I find that strange because I go out of my way to 'advise' anyone that I know is planning a wedding, if they're planning to book a disco, and I've yet to speak to someone yet who knows the first thing about lighting. That said, I'm sure some do more research than others.

The main disco lighting is always a mistery from a MY clients point of view but loads of people know the term "uplighting" from my experience.
It is often misconstrued when it comes to marquees etc. but I always take an uplighter to meetings and show the difference from the carp halogen white ones.

I'm with Toby on the "uplighting" terminology being know by most clients.
I ran a promotion during June/July offering a basic Uplighting Package for free, the bookings came flooding in... I didnt need to explain it to anyone

Agreed.
Away from our industry, people will know and understand the term uplighting and downlighting.

Must be a southern thing

I agree too. It's a shame that I have to do a spell check on it when I write emails etc as it doesn't get recognised as one word.

I stand corrected (these Orthopaedic shoes are working wonders)
You'd have thought as well that people would assume that the uplighting would be provided by the venue, as it can look like permanent fixtures if done well.
