    Default Email showing as spam

Why is it that sometime when sending email it shows up as spam yet other times it is perfectly normal ?

Are you using gmail, but sending/receiving emails from your own domain?

    Ditto

I also had the same problems when using my BT Internet web mail. I moved to Outlook some time ago and for some reason my sent mails aren't being put in the recipients SPAM folder as much.

I think it has something to do with the masking of the original email address when sending i.e [email protected] etc

Im sure someone will shed some light on this? Im clueless

Here's one place to start: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-sp...niques_(e-mail)

The short version based on my experience...

There are two reasons this may occur.

    1) The content of your email looks spammy. If you put in any l links, currency signs, telephone numbers, email addresses, commercial words (free, offer, discount, etc) there is an increased likelihood of being marked as spam.

    2) The email headers. If the sending IP doesn't match the domain/headers then it will likely get flagged.

    3) Your mail provider reputation. Some mail providers such as Google have a low spam rating, others like hotmail or chinese servers have higher rankings.

As a demonstration, I can easily send out an email that appears to come from ANY email address. However the email headers would flag it if it didn't match. It has to do with something called rDNS.

There was a type in the last post. It should say THREE reasons.

For some reason the forum is moderating my posts. Can anyone tell me why or fix this?

God knows why! A H-U-G-E proportion of spam is coming from gmail now.

You've been here a while, but haven't made many posts, so you're still classed as a 'newbie'.
