    Default Understanding lyrics

I have to 'fess up and say I've never been one to listen to lyrics and totally understand what the lyrics of a song are saying or meaning.
However, this one really does take the biscuit. Can anybody put me out of my misery please?

In and out of the red balloon
    Mary, the farmer's daughter
    Sleepy heads in the afternoon
    Callow la Callow la vita

In and out of the red balloon
    Mary, the farmer's daughter
    Sleepy heads in the afternoon
    Callow la Callow la vita

And the old man passed me by
And he didn't hear me cry
And I never knew his name
    And he never came again
And the sun was coming out
And the kids began to shout
And the dogs began to bark
    In the lovely Paris park

In and out of the red balloon
    Mary, the farmer's daughter
    Sleepy heads in the afternoon
    Callow la Callow la vita

    Callow la Vita
    Callow la Vita
    Callow la Vita
    Callow la Vita

    Bonjour madame
    Bonjour monsieur
Je vous voir dans le parc
Main y main tous les jours
    Et qui j'attends aujourd'hui
Et les fleurs sont si belles
    J'espère quelles fleurs
    Passer privé toujours l'amour

In and out of the red balloon
    Mary, the farmer's daughter
    Sleepy heads in the afternoon
    Callow la Callow la vita

    Callow la Vita
    Callow la Vita
    Callow la Vita
    Callow la Vita

    Callow la Vita
    Callow la Vita
    Callow la Vita
    Callow la Vita

I think I can match that one

    Sugarcubes
    Birthday(1988)

She lives in this house over there
    Has her world outside it
Scrapples in the earth with her fingers and her mouth
    She's five years old

    Thread worms on a string
    Keeps spiders in her pocket
Collects fly wings in a jar
    Scrubs horse flies
And pinches them on a line
    Ohhh...

She has one friend, he lives next door
    They're listenening to the weather
He knows how many freckles she's got
    She scratches his beard

    She's painting huge books
    And glues them together
    They saw a big raven
    It glided down the sky
    She touched it
    Ohh...

    Today is a birthday
    They're smoking cigars
He's got a chain of flowers
And sows a bird in her knickers
    Ohhh...

    They're smoking cigars
    They lie in the bathtub
    A chain of ... flowers

No wonder I prefer the Icelandic version

Indeed. Psychedelic folk, I suppose you really ought to expect it to be gibberish.
