my wife runs a company and has employed all three sons at one point or another - currently one is part time outside of college days but another is leaving a full time post to join her full time while he does his masters.
I don't think it's ideal - as the lines often get blurred.
But don't we all give our kids more chances than anyone else?

At various points both my lads and my daughter have worked for me and generally its ok but there's sometimes a bit too much familiarity and problems can carry on at home afterwards.
I do prefer to work with non-family and non-friends as it can be kept more business like, having said that its often the fact that when you work with someone so closely you do become friends and the lines can get blurred even then. Goes without saying though that if any of my kids found themselves out of work and needing an income I would take them on, but would prefer it was just till they sorted themselves out.

.
What do you mean by that? Getting too involved with the business where it doesn't concern them?

Charlie, I think he means that a lot of kids these days think they know best, and don't like being told what to do, I can see how this could cause ructions and inevitably these could easily get personal.
