    Default Centrepiece Light recommendations

    Hi all,

to be honest I am getting bored with seeing my Chauvet Vue III as a centrepiece fixture and I was wonderng if any of you have any recommendations for a replacement - either a pair or single light fixture that is "impressive"

I have a Martin EFX5000 for larger gigs to go with my moving heads so I am looking for the small to medium venue situation.

Time has moved on since the impossiled "effect" so what is the new light on the street?

    Thanks in advance.

I've been watching (waiting?) on this thread as I'm in the same position. I was considering pairing up the Vue with another of the same unit, but I'd prefer a change.

I noticed the other day that Acme/Prolight are re-inventing the LED moonflower range again after the lackluster response to the LED Cougars - I've got a pair and they're bright enough, but the optics aren't great. They're introducing the Cheetah with a 50w LED fixture with separate colour and gobo wheels, but still only 4.9Kg and a few other similar fixtures, but they're pretty pricey (£319.00 each).

Other than the stock answer of the Martin Wizard range (which I've been advised not to use as a centre piece due to the proximity of the hot fan and your face when it's mounted mid-bar), does anyone have any other suggestions?

I have a single Martin EFX5000 but again it is not suitable for the smaller venue and it's quite a heavy beast!

Keep the suggestions coming - thank you

I mount my Martin EFX5000 high on my dual bar - I took the advice from a thread about mounting these and I re-adjusted the way I mount the light to get it as high as possible, safely and directly not in my face when mounted mid bar.

I tend to agree that your average laser is not suitable for weddings. I think the diffraction pattern lasers have something different to offer and I was thinking of using one under DMX control with 2 x Equinox Atria to create a 3 colour pattern of varying stars around the room.

What other lighting do you use as part of your show ?

For smaller gigs I use a pair of QTX LED Multiplex in slave/master mode

I use the Chauvet VUE III as a middle piece and a pair of Pusle Par Cans for uplighting or mood lighting behind the booth.

On larger gigs I have a choice from:

    2 moving heads, 4 Acme Dynamo, 2 Prolight Pumas, Tri-Laser, EFX5000

What about the ADJ quad phase (x2) or a cluster laser?
