    how do i find out what switches to use on the dipswitch to set the address

    Or there's a app called "lampie" for iPhone that includes a DMX calculator.

    As Dan has stated, there are loads of apps around and Sabres web based one is nice and simple.
    Just check either android or apple marketplaces if you need it for a smartphone.

    I use lxepert and stagehand regular, but they have loads of "techie" stuff for lighting engineers (beam width, power loads, ohms law etc).

    Dips - DMX

    1 - 1

    2 - 2

    3 - 4

    4 - 8

    5 - 16

    6 - 32

    7 - 64

    8 - 128

    9 - 254
    By using this simple chart you can easily work out DMX addressing even without any apps or calcs.

    You just select the dips to make up the address you require.

    For example :

    If you wanted a DMX address of 16 then select dip 5.
    If you wanted 17 then select dips 1 & 5.
    If you wanted 5 then select dips 1 & 3

    Easy really
