What the?????!!!!!
Don't you just hate it when this happens? This is part of the timeline for this Saturday evening.
Now it's an evening only job for me. I arrive at the same time as the band, do the first dance and then bugger off for a ciggy for a couple of hours until they're done and I take over (so I'm there longer than them....by three hours to be exact)
I'm already wondering about the music during they're 30 minute "break" (poor darlings need a rest half way through). Apparently they're supposed to be providing it....well see, eh?
I'm really not fussed because I've got plenty of time to eat before I even leave home, but thanks for the offer guys!

.... You notice that one side of your PA is brighter than the other. With the speakers you only bought brand new in March. Rrrrr. The horn isn't dead. Far from it. Just noticeably reduced output compared to the other. Now, both sound good still.. But which one is faulty? The duller one or the brighter one? Hmmm. My money is on the duller one. They're both still in warranty so the slightly duller one is going back first. Very inconvenient...
These things happen & by all anecdotal evidence no brand is immune from trouble so it's just 'one of those things'.

I always have my own food.
I do find it fascinating how bands have a table, food, beers all round very often, and the DJ is ignored. The band play 2 x 45 mins, the DJ does 3 hours sometimes more. I often have more kit that the band too, with their two Mackie Thumps and a PAR bar.

Yep, that is all that is needed.
Anything over 6 hours I ask for food and drink (not fussed about a full meal, sandwich or something is fine). If this isn't 'acknowledged' I do remind people. Never had a problem and bizarrely seems to improve the way I am treat - a human as opposed to a machine playing music lol.
...caterers who dispite having been paid for you to eat, happen to forget.
and and brides who say, 'no special songs, or requests', and don't mention that the groom and his family are from Australia, and want to be singing along to their favourite Aussie drinking songs half the night, most of which I'd never even heard of. Luckily a quick login to the super slow internet (no phone signal in venue) managed to blag them off iTunes and off we go.
