Only thing I can see wrong is having all your eggs in one basket! As external HDD go they are more likely to fail than one thats in a normal computer. Just a thought.

Who said I've got all my eggs in one basket? I have several other drives for backup too as well as online solutions such as Dropbox, Google Drive and ICloud.
And where do you get your information about an external drive failing more than an internal one? Surely they have the same components but one is inside a caddy and the other isn't?

Yep but ones moved about and bashed more. Even when not being used they can get damaged.
It was only a passing thought!
