    Default Updating External hard drives

How many of you use external hardrives to hold youre music on?

If so how do you go about updating each back up drive when new tracks have been added to your main playout drive i.e Requests, chart hits etc?

I seem to spend ages pluging in drives to update them recently and need to look for an easier method?

Fantastic piece of software. Just make sure you configure it correctly.

...but don't forget to buy a business licence if you use that, as it's only free for personal use.

I simply follow the simple route, cos I'm a simple soul. All the new music I get goes onto a stick, and then the stick is copied to each drive in turn.

There's no real structure to my gig external HDDs.

It's just stored in years and months

Each new purchase goes into the month (folder) it was purchased on. So it's just a case of dragging and dropping any new tracks into the newest month. I tend to update the backup drive every few months, so it's just a case of copy and pasting a few months at a time. It's the easiest method I could find, and it works for me.

All the organisation of the tracks/genres etc is done through tagging and playlists.

As with Tony -SyncToy here. I've 3 External USB Drives, and use my internal HDD for main playback (on its own partition - idea being less cables).
When I remember, I cycle the external HDDs - so one stays in my dayjob office (off site).

Running Synctoy takes a few mins when updating. On a new drive.... ages! lol

But- its FREE, works well and worth looking into.
