Default First dances 2012 so far!

I've been asked to do a guest blog spot on a local venues website and they asked me to do it on first dances for this year. What's current , anything unusual etc.

I was intrigued by what I found!

Of the 60 weddings so far this year 58 have had first dances and I've been really lucky to have clients that have put their minds to it. The 58 breaks down to only 9 songs that have been played more than once!

    Here's the top 5:

    1. Make you feel my love - Adele 4 plays

    Now it get's interesting!!

Joint 2nd is the track "Use Somebody" (originally by the Kings of Leon) with 3 plays but different artists! It's had 1 play as the original, 1 as a Pixie Lott acoustic version & 1 play as again an acoustic version this time by Laura Johnson

It shares 2nd place with "Your Song" (originally Elton John) again with 3 plays 2 by Elton John & 1 as the Ellie Goulding version

There's then 6 tracks that have been played twice. These are:

    Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol
Let's stay together - Al Green
    Can't help falling in love - UB40
    You & Me - Lifehouse
Wherever you will go - The Calling
Hard to concentrate - Red Hot Chilli Peppers

What I have noticed is a lean towards more indie type groups with The Calling featuring 3 times, Foo Fighters twice and also in there with one play are Stereophonics, Semisonic, Florence, New Found Glory, Train & Muse.

Also chart tracks get a mention with "Feel so close" - Calvin Harris & "Dance with me tonight" - Olly Murs being two of the more unusual tracks to be played.

Mr Buble has been less effective so far this year with only 2 songs by him being played (Crazy & Everything)

There's a few "older" ones in there aswell with Frank Sinatra (Fly me to the moon), Danny Williams (Moon River) & Andy Williams (Can't take my eyes off of you) having one play each

What could be classed as standard first dance tracks appear too with "Amazed"- Lonestar, "I don't wanna miss a thing" - Aerosmith both have one play each.

It's good to see that B&G's really do in the most think about their first dances as there were 49 different ones ranging from Roxy music through to Zapp & Roger via Sade , Norah Jones & Sting!

Anyone got any trends for this year (for 1st dances )
