Bose L1s
I just wanted to post a quick comment on the above. It may of interest to some of you.
I was working last night, along with a Ceilidh band, at one of the biggest venues in my area.
The event was sold out (340) people!
The Ceilidh band were using the Bose system ( 2 x columns and 2 x bins )
Some people on here were concerned about how much sound they could put out. I have got to say that they sounded fantastic. And even down the bottom of the room, they were sounding very clear ( it may have been different with disco music ).
A lot of the time I was sitting on the stage more or less behind the band and could hear everything the dance caller was saying ( I am sure that doesn't happen with other speakers? )
I was looking at this system before I bought my K12s. It may be time for another look!

Hi Andy. I did notice you had them for sale. I am not at the stage of buying just yet, but thanks for mentioning it anyway.

I find with the Bose L1's people either love them or hate them. I personally love them.
We have the Bose L1 model 2's and the Bose L1 compacts. I love them and have picked up some gigs on using them alone. I think some of it may be due to the look and the brand awareness that the general public associate with Bose.
I personally find with general public, they have never heard of a sound system by Funktion One or Martin Audio etc, but they are familiar with the Bose brand due to hifi and other products such as docks etc and they associate this with a quality and premium brand.
I had a gig 2 weeks ago with a band. Their own PA was awful, so bad I had to put earplugs in. They were blown away by the quality of the Bose, but I think they would of been blown away by a goodmans hifi compared to their PA!

Thanks for that. The sound from the band the other night was amazing. I have spent a lot of money on my sound system over the last year (2xQSC K12s and 1 RCF bass bin). I am happy with it, but always want to improve. Although I wouldn't want to get it wrong by changing to the Bose system.

Just got to say I have been doing disco for 44 years and had a huge range of speakers from ADD to QSC, RCF to Tannoy (several models) and Bose 802's plus many subs but since I bought the L1's and B1's I realise the performance is beyond what I have owned previously.
New Years Eve I used 1 x L1 and 2 x B1's in a pub and the landlord was amazed at the quality and power.

I definitely don't think you would get it wrong. I just got a email tonight as we hired some Bose L1's to a casino in Mayfair. The owner was really impressed with the sound quality and wants to use them again.

Last year I was a guest at a small party (approx 30 people in a small pub) and the DJ had one stick and one bass module, playing a general mix of music. Although it sounded good at background level, however at 'disco level' there seemed to be no headroom in the system whatsoever. You could clearly hear some heavy compression going on as the system was turned up. It could have been how the system was set up, so it would be good to get another opportunity to have a listen to a correctly set up system in the near future.

Thanks for your comments Jamie. I have really only heard the system when used by a Ceilidh band. I have been offered the chance to try them via my disco system.
It is not something I will be rushing into, but it is possible that I may purchase in the future.
