    Default Pro Mobile - Conference 2013

    Hia

    Right one month till the Promobile Conference! It will be a brilliant 2 days!

    I have heard a few people say they cant afford it, but for just a few hundred pounds (Ie one gig a year!!) you get a host of
    information, get to network with the UK's best mobile DJ's, attend a Gala Dinner and also accommodation in a very nice hotel (included in the price)!

    It's a no brainer in my opinion, but that is just my opinion



    THE ITINERARY

    Sunday 17th March 2013

    10:30am Conference Registration Opens

    11:00am Networking Brunch
    A great place to start - meeting and eating!
    The conference will kick off with an informal networking event, running in tandem with the conference registration. Arrive, register for your conference badge, grab a cuppa and a hot breakfast sandwich, and then dive straight into the networking!

    12:00pm Welcome - Eddie Short
    Time to get serious!
    The formal conference programme will begin with a brief welcome from Eddie Short, Pro Mobile editor and Conference Curator, who will share some of the vision for the conference and whet your appetite for what is to come.

    12:15pm The Perfect Host - Jim Cerone
    This inspiring keynote seminar will outline a change in mind-set that, if adopted, could completely revolutionise your performances and mobile DJ business.
    A successful and well-respected DJ and educator in the USA, Jim Cerone will be speaking in the UK for the first time at the conference. In this lead keynote session Jim will go in to detail discussing the 10 essential ingredients for becoming 'The Perfect Host'. Following on from the keynote seminar Jim will host two separate (identical) interactive workshop sessions teaching 10 ways to be much more effective in front of a live audience. This will allow smaller groups of delegates to train with Jim and put some of his ideas and principles into practice.

    1:45pm Insights from Improvisation - Alex MacLaren
    This session is about learning and applying techniques from outside of the traditional mobile DJ skill-set for above average results.
    The 'out of industry' speaker for the conference, Alex MacLaren, is a professional actor, improviser and trainer. In this entertaining and engaging presentation Alex will share the principles and procedures used by stage improvisers such as those in 'Whose Line is it Anyway' and show how they can be applied by mobile DJs, both at events and in running their businesses. Later in the afternoon Alex will then host two interactive workshops in which he will take delegates through exercises in pairs, threes and small groups to demonstrate the principles of improvisation and their applications.

    2:45pm The State Of The Industry - Panel Session
    Have you ever wondered where the mobile DJ industry is heading?
    In the past decade the mobile DJ business has reached new heights of professionalism. Have we already hit the peak, or is there still room to flourish further? Does our sector need formal regulation and what impact would that have on the wider DJ community? This panel will feature industry figures representing associations, media and the music industry and will be a great forum to hear their thoughts on the future of mobile DJing. There is a lot to be discussed, and you will have a chance to add in your thoughts too. The future of the mobile DJ industry is in your hands...

    4:00pm Workshop Sessions - Jim Cerone & Alex MacLaren
    Practical applications of the keynote principles.
    These two interactive sessions will allow our keynote speakers to show practical applications of the principles outlined in their earlier seminar sessions. Half of the conference delegates will take part in Jim's workshop while the rest spend an hour with Alex, the two groups will then swap for a second hour - allowing all delegates to participate in both workshops as part of a smaller group.

    7:30pm Pro Mobile Gala Dinner
    The first day of the conference will end with a networking dinner, followed by entertainment until late.
    Continue networking with fellow DJs and the conference speakers over a three course dinner in the hotel ballroom. Then enjoy the evening entertainment along with the company of like-minded colleagues. Finally, the hotel bar will remain open for late-night debate until the last delegates head for bed.
    Monday 18th March 2013

    7:30am Ideas Sharing Breakfast - Mark Walsh
    The perfect way to get focussed for the day ahead.
    We are trying to cram in as many networking and idea sharing opportunities as possible throughout the Conference and Monday morning the conversation starts early over breakfast. Join Mark Walsh at 7.30am for an hour of lively debate and sharing of thoughts, concepts and ideas in one of his infamous 'ideas sharing' sessions. Find out from others how they work, market and run their businesses; and don't forget to add your own stories and ideas in to the melting pot. When you arrive for breakfast you will be asked to fill in a brief questionnaire and then let the conversation begin...

    9:30am Mobile DJ Success - Panel Session
    Ever wondered how some DJs command higher fees than others?
    Is there one golden path to DJ success - or are there multiple potential routes to follow? This panel will highlight a hand-picked group of extremely successful DJs, who will share their personal experiences and advice for colleagues. The debate will then be opened up to the floor for the many other successful DJs in attendance to share their views.

    10:15am The Mobile DJ Clinics
    Your chance to ask specific questions to a host of experts in particular fields related to DJing and running a mobile entertainment business.
    This unique session is your chance to pose a question in person to one of our speakers, the conference organisers and other selected industry professionals. You'll get a four minute personal one-to-one chat with your panellist of choice; a chance to pose questions and find out how their knowledge and experiences can aid your personal development. Then, as soon as the buzzer goes, you move around and start a new conversation with another industry peer. This is 'business speed-dating' at its finest!

    11:30am Stage Work & Performance Art - Mark Walsh
    This interactive presentation is all about working on your business's biggest performance asset, YOU.
    Popular mobile DJ trainer Mark Walsh will be drilling in to the art of performance, taking a look at what makes a great performer and how you can learn to be one too. A good consummate performance will win any audience over and is the fast track to gaining an audiences' respect and ultimately increased bookings. Make yourself in to a consummate professional and stand out from the crowd.

    1:00pm Networking Lunch
    Another chance to pick someone's brains or pick up a new contact.
    A good networker never takes a break. So chose your seat carefully for this two course hot and cold buffet lunch. Don't go for the safe option and sit next to someone you already know, step out of your comfort zone and strike up a conversation with a complete stranger - who knows where it may lead!

    2:00pm Business Planning for DJs - David Reed
    This is the vital step to help you organise all of your ideas and give you a practical plan that will help you make more money.
    After the exposure you will get to the presenters and fellow delegates at the conference, you will have loads of new ideas and a renewed vision for your DJ business. Before you lose any of your excitement and good intentions to put these things into practice, this interactive seminar will give you a simple and practical way of integrating all this new information into your business. You will get the framework to create a Business Plan that works for you, your customers and your business.

    3:30pm Final Thoughts
    Every good thing must come to an end!
    The conference will close with a final session summarising the two days and offering delegates a chance to feedback.

    Yep, another 4 emails today and posted on every forum and facebook page they can think off. Beyond tedious and reeks of desperation.

    Personally I am not going because the majority (not all) of the speakers just don't inspire me. I have heard what thay have to say more than on 1 occassion at BPM and if I have missed anything I can read it in the pro mobile magazine. Spamming me in some vein attempt to brainwash me will not make me want to attend!

    One of the main reasons I won't be going is because pretty much all of these marketing/conference things are based on what they do in America... and I couldn't care less - I live in England! If I wanted to be like an American i'd live there...

    I would've thought people in this country would've learnt a lesson by now about tagging along with the USA...

    I agree with the over advertising, but it is a large event and it needs to be advertised just like any other business.
    Nothing to do with me as i posted this off my own back as i thought some of you may be interested? Maybe i was wrong?

    It's not really your normal DJ meet to be honest and given the fact that it will be two days (in a very
    nice hotel) with accommodation and a gala dinner included its money well spent in my opinion.

    its not only the keynote speaking but it is also also great to mix with some very good DJ's that i would not normally come into contact
    with and I have no doubt i will come out of it with many ideas that will boost my business and make my job that much more enjoyable
    I have attended things like this before and have literally only had one idea that has completely changed my business and also my income.
    If I was at home scratching my ass I may have saved a bit of cash but never have thought of that in a million years so well worth the time and money.


    Its no bother to me if you come or not as its not my business, but it would be a good thing to get a bit of industry support from some of its leading figures I am surprised that Andy holds such views as I always thought of him as an extremely forward thinking DJ and always see him at things like this. Check out the photos and videos after if your still not sure and perhaps its something you might like to attend next year?

    I am all for training Toby but I have been put off by this for a couple of reasons - the first one being the complete overkill on promoting this. That's put me right off anyway - I have better things to do with my time that keep deleting repeat emails that I get in a very short space in time.

    The speakers are not industry leaders. I've heard Dave Reed speak on many occasions and although jumbled about a bit leads to the same thing, put your prices up so you can spend more in my shop. As for Eddie and Mark, no dis-respect to them in any way shape or form and I am not knocking or belittling what they have done - but they are not inspirational. I can hear them for free at BPM.

    If I were to go I would only be interested in what Jim had to say - again though he has never held a seminar in the UK, so hazard a guess he knows very little about the UK market.

    I appreciate it’s in a nice hotel and a gala dinner, but gala dinners are where Mrs. Collins and I go, not with other DJ's!

    I am all for networking and training - I spend a lot of time travelling long distances to network with other DJ's and also spend a considerable amount of money, time and effort in training DVD's, CD's, workshops and seminars.

    Put a seminar together with Randy Bartlett, Jim Cerone, Peter Merry and Mark Ferrell - now that WOULD be worth going too, and I have no doubt wouldn't need a marketing overkill to inspire people to part with their cash!

    Good luck to anyone who goes, the views on the speakers are my own after hearing them in the past. My main objection always was the way Eddie and Mark feel that it is acceptable to spam me!

    I think it is great that these guys are taking a gamble on putting on an event like this. I'm not sure I would attend if I still worked as a DJ, however the option is there. Remember how BPM started, these are not guys who have made massive money in the industry - they took a gamble to try and improve the industry and offer more and without doubt BPM has now become something to look forward to for most people. Pro Mobile I would say is a very difficult magazine to produce, what can you say that hasn't been said and getting the manufacturers to back either of these projects in the early days must have been very hard work. I would rather these things existed with the choice of taking part of not, reading or not than to not exist at all.

    As for the "spamming", everything I have seen has an unsubscribe feature or you and stop liking the facebook page. Spam is something that you get without any choice - this isn't spam. It might be overkill for sure. Whether you like this event, the emails or facebook posts from these guys - it is an option open to you and I think that is a good thing. The more options the better.

    I agree. You can unsubscribe or contact them as Eddie is very easy going and would not want to upset anyone.
    Andy does seem upset by this which is fair enough and i agree that over marketing does not do it any favours

    That forgotten however:

    They have made very huge risks with BPM and now the Conference. imagine what BPM would have cost if no one turned up!! they would probably have faced jail time perhaps - but they stuck their neck out and just did it!

    For all they knew no one would have bought tickets to this conference too and they would still have to pay for the venue and the speakers (God knows how much it will cost for Jim Cerone to come from the states) but as it stands they have a very good number of people. Well most of the normal faces (quell suprize) and lots of new ones too as i have seen the full list, being a contributor (so its not marketing in desperation).

    As per the content - its totally different to the seminars at BPM. I have never got much out of the BPM seminars tbh and they are very sammy each year and dumbed down for people who would not normally go to seminars and amateurs attending.

    I cannot comment on the speakers attending and what they will cover, but i do believe that they will really excel and produce the goods as its a much bigger event with a room full of advanced mobile DJ's (who have all paid a fee) so they will write a specialist key note relating to that level of professional skill.

    I will post some videos and photos after it has happened and people can judge for themselves if they are adverse to attending this year.
