Default Image Projection to Side of Building

I have a client who is asking for image projection onto the front of their rather lovely period building. Where to start? I am after any and all advice as to what equipment I need, and whether it is best to hire or purchase. What are the pitfalls etc

The image will, on this occasion, be static and two colours.

We could do with more info to help with any definitive answers.

Just a few questions to start with:
Permanent or temporary (and if so how long, one night?)?
Period building - a photo would be a good start - is it a flat and even projection surface or are there columns, windows etc to deal with? What sort of surface?
What exactly do they want projected, a coloured logo?
What size is the image required?
Where can you project from? Have you got a central position or will you require keystoning? How far away from the building is it?
Is there a weatherproof position to project from or will the projector itself need to be IP rated?
    Power supply?
    Equipment security?

These are far from a comprehensive list of questions that will need answering. And until we know the answers we can't usefully start telling you how to do it.

This is fairly easy to do to be honest, you simply need to hire one of these: http://premier-equipment-hire.com/pr...utdoor-dome/80 and then a light to put in it. If the image can be static then one of these would be great: http://premier-equipment-hire.com/pr...-zoom-25-50/47 both of which we have in stock.

All you need then is an M sized gobo to go into the light with the image on it - simples

The dome keeps the light dry so if its raining its not a problem at all.

Thanks Ben, I prefer to keep it simple. The image is the cross of St George i.e. a red cross on a white background. So just need to get a suitable gobo. I've kept your details from a previous enquiry re outdoor lighting.

    Thanks once again.

As he is uing two colours this will not work properly.

I have done this several times before. You will need to hire a Martin Mac 2000 or similar and a dome. You could contact DHA for your gobo http://www.dhalighting.co.uk/custom-gobo.html.

Yep, a mover would do the job (we have those also). Don't think you can get a coloured glass gobo in M size, could be wrong though.

Gobo size 'm' will fit stuff like say source fours. There are many sizes. A firm like dha will be able to get the right one for the right unit made. It is worth checking though if you can replace gobos in units first. Not all light allow gobos to be changed

Wouldn't a projector be more suitable?
Not tried mine outside but it claims a maximum 6.5m wide screen from 4m away and suggests it's bright enough for low ambient light.

Projectors don't work with the domes, we tried it last year. So it would only work if it wasn't raining.
