Seen as the plugs are rated at 10amp, if you use 10amp cable that would be the most sensible thing to do, that way you wont overload the cable. However most links will connect just a simple light and so 3amp cable would normally be more than enough. You just need to be aware of loading and it will be fine. I have cut numerous moulded plugs off of factory made leads and most of them use 0.75mm stranded, the difference is they are normally fitted with a 3amp fuse.

That is 6amp cable, and would be ok for almost 1.5kw, stranded cable is calculated like this:

    Maximum power (Watts)
    0.5 mm2
    3 amps
    Up to 720 Watts

    0.75 mm2
    6 amps
    Up to 1440 Watts

    1.0 mm2
    10 amps
    Up to 2400 Watts

Stick with the HO7 stuff. Its the stuff you should be using in mobile environment as it can take the battering and continual bending and flexing. Plus is a dream to coil!

H07 cable is a bit of an overkill for internal wiring of lighting, yes it is tough but heavy, I would go for h05 cable which is slightly smaller. H07 cable should be used for all outside runs. I also use it for the main runs to the wall sockets as they are often walked on.

1mm cable is OK for short run and is the best size to fit in to an IEC plug / socket. Although the plug is rated at 10A the fuse will most likely be 13A which is OK with this cable.

The best source of cable is either 10out10 in London or my local Screwfix depending on quanity.

I find that it is often cheaper to buy the readymade cable from CPC as these have moulded plugs which are more reliable than screw terminals. They are so cheap that if they fail a test you just bin them.
