Goodbye
Just going through my accounts....
It is time to say goodbye to a lot of places where I have advertised in the last 12months.
I have spent £4,000.. which is a lot more than I was hoping to spend.
£700 Scottish Wedding Directory [3 Bookings from the Mag] GOODBYE... will be taking up a smaller advert
£600 Edinburgh Corn Exchange Wedding Fair [10 bookings] GOODBYE... will be doing 1 instead of two fairs per year
£500 Promotional pens
£500 Promotional material (posters, post cards, business cards, mugs etc)
£400 Website and domains.
£240 yell.com [1 Booking] GOODBYE...
£240 facebook [1 Booking] GOODBYE...
£240 google adwords [1 Booking] Hard to justify... but so many bookings come Google that feel have to keep.
£120 hitched [X no Bookings] GOODBYE...
£100 mywedding [X no Bookings] GOODBYE...
£400 other listings on websites (less than £80 each) GOODBYE to most of them.

Shouldnt you be getting rid of these? surely pens and mugs are not bringing you business

The Mugs have costs £80 for 40. I like giving one to the duty manager at each new venue.....
A lot of the other promotional material was for the wedding fairs so that will be reduced.
The pens I love. I buy 2,500 of them every year so at about 20p each I think they are a cheap way of advertising. Most guests take them home with them... plus the venue has several to keep at the end of each night.
I think they help keep me in mind of potential clients and venues.
Any of you Scottish DJ come across a Lee Live pen at a gig?

Hi Lee no I have never seen your pens or mugs.I have to agree with you on the Scottish wedding directory its been a total loss for me so far.
Good luck with your cost cutting

£4000 for 16 bookings?
I'm sure your not going out for 150 quid but that seems real steep to me!

Pens and mugs are items that people use all of the time so your details are always there in front of them. I spend a fair bit on the pens and people always take them away with them. I've had people ring up and say "Got your number of a pen I picket up months ago" so they do work.
It's the directories that give no return at all that are black hole where spending goes. That's a good tip, though, for anyone knew to business (and some that are not so knew). Keep a track of your advertising. I haven't for the last couple of years and this lacksidaisical attitude has come back to bite me on the backside so it's back to basics for me know!

Doh... I have mislead you... it was £80 for 20. They are £4 each from Vistaprint (with the usual email discount offer). Sorry.
