Default Current music for an 18th?

Never done one before guys. Just wondering if there are any good current songs you would suggest?

Blurred Lines is an absolute must, fantastic tune and a real floor filler. X-rated lyrics though.

Agreed. It's growing on me, and already huge with the punters.

Really? Think my version's a CD Pool, so no naughty words. Must check.
Excalibur. Older than the average DJ.

There's usually not a lot to pick from in the charts, in terms of bankers. I even had Gangnam Style clear the floor for me last night

But that is what you'll be looking at mainly - current chart. Unfortunately, a lot of youngsters are into a lot of tracks beyond current chart - so you may be asked for a lot of dance and R&B/Hip-hop that hasn't even charted

I've found these to be fairly reliable tracks for 21sts (I only occasionally do 18ths), some are a bit older but still do well:

    Daft Punk - Get Lucky
Cheryl Cole - Call My Name
Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe
    Robbie Williams - Candy
    Train - Drive By
    Nicki Minaj - Starships*
Olly Murs Feat. Flo Rida - Troublemaker
Taylor Swift - We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together

Macklemore - Thrift Shop* and Can't Hold Us
    Nelly - Hey Porsche
    Rihanna - Diamonds

Bingo Players Feat. Far East Movement - Get Up
Pitbull Feat. TJR - Don't Stop The Party
Calvin Harris - Drinking From The Bottle
Avicii Feat. Nicky Romero - I Could Be The One
    Otto Knows - Million Voices
    Azealia Banks - 212
Swedish House Mafia - Don't You Worry Child
    Avicii - Levels
David Guetta Feat. Sia - Titanium
Flo Rida Feat. Sia - Wild Ones

Ah, well I have the 'dirty' version, and by far the worst line is "you're the hottest [female dog] in the place!". I don't do kids parties, so don't usually worry about clean versions of tracks. I just have to know which tracks contain offensive lyrics, and if there are kids around at functions - then I play them after they've gone home.

As beerfunk said, thats a good 18th list, peak time tracks that they should go ape to are:

Pitbull Feat. TJR - Don't Stop The Party
Swedish House Mafia - Don't You Worry Child
Hot Right Now - DJ fresh + Rita Ora

also others that should go well

    Bassline Junkie - Dizzee Rascal
Mamma do the hump - Rizzle Kicks
Sexy and I know it - LMFOA
Scream and Shout - Will I am and Britney bit**
Bom Bom - Sam and the womp
Pound the alarm - Nicki Minaj

and cheese believe it or not
One pound fish - £1 Fish Man they normally love that.
    Gangnam
    Cha cha slide
    Ready to rumble

Should have mentioned, the * was to denote tracks with explicit swearing. That is to say, it's so obvious that everyone will notice it!

Did an 18th a couple of weeks ago. I wouldn't take it for granted personally what your 'typical 18 year old' is up for as obviously people's tastes differ but the one I did in particular was a lot of Chart, RnB, Dubstep, Hip Hop etc.

Blurred Lines went down really well as did that Naughty Boy track.
There was also lots of Example, Pitbull, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Kanye West, Usher etc.

I use Mastermix ProDisc or the NOW albums, they are guaranteed swear-free.

I have the latest DMC Essential Hits 99 though and I'm sure the Muse track on there contains something naughty and is not marked as such.
