There's no requirement to have a business account, and as long as cheques are payable to your personal name then all is good.

No legal requirement to set it up but i like to keep my business and personal life separate , A business account with Santander is free and with a business account you will qualify for other things such as cards for cash and carry places etc so its worth while having.
Santander also let you pay your cheques and cash in at the cashline so even if you take the balance on the night you can still put it in your bank account on the way home if you prefer.

Not quite true....
If you are starting up as a partnership or Ltd company then you need a business bank account.
I know most people on here won't be starting like that, but it's worth mentioning.

just change your personal name to ksdiscos by deed poll then you wont need a business account.

Thanks. It would not be too bad for me if I owned a popular sunglasses company or cider business.
Think of the business account bills I would have saved!
