I've noticed from your first message that you're asking people if they've work to pass on to conisder you. But I've noticed you've got a couple of YouTube videos on your site from our colleagues stateside yet you're in Warwick. If you want people to trust you enough to pass work on to you, then why don't you put your own videos up so people know what to expect? Or are you affiliated in some way to those two American operators?
I'm asking this early on to clear the air. If you've used these videos to test your website then do tell us when you plan to replace them with your own clips. We promote trust and good practise on the MDD Forum, and we're trying to raise the bar and the public's perception of us, after all.
Another mistake on my part, I built the website myself on Wix and the videos were on the template and i just left them on there.
I will take them off today and make sure i replace them with stuff of my own
Thanks for the advice

So Wix as standard use their videos on their template? I'd bet the DJs involved aren't aware of this

Thanks for the nice welcome, I hope my first post didn't make anyone think I was up my own backside, I'm really not like that at all, i'm just a DJ trying to sell my product as best I can.
I have learnt a great deal in the short time I've been a member here on what to put on a website.

Us DJ's are known for a bit of self promotion, we all do it
You definitely need to get some more about your past experience on your site, that's what helps you stand out from everybody else.
We're all happy to proof read and give opinions on anything new you add to it - all websites take a lot of re-writing and tweaking to get them right.

It may sound really silly but we've come to learn to that using comments like "Number 1 DJ in our area" are a recipe for being sued. If someone challenges you on it (and someone will, believe me!) then you'd need to show figures/research to prove it. If you can't then you're in breach of advertising regulations that say you mustn't make claims that will lead your audience to believe something that isn't necessarily true. That's why when advertisers make claims like this there's always some small print along the lines of "We polled 50 previous customers and 26 said they'd recommend us so we can make the claim that most of our customers would recommend us". Crazy, I know, as 24 previous customers had issues but hey ho, that's marketing for you.
As for the videos, those are what is known legally as intellectual property (ie the owner has the rights to them) and, if you use those videos without the written consent of the rights owner you would in breach of copyright law and could also be charged with theft. Advertising, and websites in particular, are a legal minefield as anyone can create them, and they might not even know they are doing anything wrong, but it could result in a major legal headache.
