Default Both speakers only work in mono mode ? ?

At a gig last weekend, whenever I turned to switch on the mixer (Numark CD MIX MP3), to stereo, only one speaker worked, but when I flipped the switch to mono, both speakers came on??? Anyone have any ideas what's going on there?

Sounds like you have lost one channel of the mixer prior to the mono/stereo switch.

Does it happen on all channels ?

Does it happen with external inputs ?

What do the VU meters show ?

Could be as simple as the master fader faulty. Does is happen at all settings of the master ? try gently rocking the fader side to side and see if the sound comes on in stereo mode.

Check that you have the output balance set to the centre.

    As above.

They show one row of lights on stereo with one speaker working, and two rows of lights on mono with both speakers working.

Reverse the red and white phono leads and see if the other set of LEDs work

If they do then either the laptop is only outputting one channel or most likely the lead is broken.

    Try a different lead

Try a different source eg ipod or phone

    Try a different line input
