    Default Running speakers wirelessly

    Hello,

Wedding season is fast approaching us and I have quite a few gigs booked in larger function rooms with circa 300-400 guests.

I'm trying to think of the best way to position four speakers in larger venues without having unsightly (and dangerous) cables running all the way from one side of the room to another. So, I'm thinking that the best way of doing this would be to use some sort of wireless TV transmitter but obviously only use it for the audio side of things rather than video.

I've found this on ebay that seems to work on some sort of 5.8ghz bluetooth system. It also states that there is a 100 meter range, so in theory this would probably be fine for larger venues where I could position 2 speakers at the back of the room and 2 at the front.

    The questions I have are:-

    (1) Do you think this is a suitable product for what I'm wanting to acchieve? Or do I run the risk of getting sound break up/ interference etc on a crowded dance floor even if I place the transmitter/ receiver units high up from the ground.
    (2) Is anyone else out there using a similar setup? If so then I'm wondering what sort of results are you getting?
    (3) is there a better way of transmitting audio signals wirelessly around a venue.

I have found another product that seems more geared to musicians/ dj's that works on a UHF basis, but at £300 it's slightly outside my budget

    Thanks in advance.

You can get a similar device but for a guitar.
Only trouble is it would be mono.
Or you could buy a pair and put them on different frequencies.

    Thanks for that ckpr2,

I did see the mono guitar style wireless devices. However, It did make me feel a bit uneasy running an event on mono. I guess I'm a bit of a perfectionist!

Never thought of running two on different channels. That's a really good idea. It even works as a back up system because if one unit fails on the night then at least the show can still go on!

I have used the LD Systems MEI 1000 in ear monitoring system to wirelessly transmit to a set of powered speakers. The quality was excellent and never failed all night. You can buy the system with two receivers and on transmitter all in a nice carry case.

If memory serves, many folk on here have used an LD Wats system successfully. Searching for this returns among others:

Default LD Systems WATS2 UHF (100m range).

I use the LD Systems WATS2 UHF wireless transmission system.
They have a 100m range but there really has to be a direct line of sight for them to work at that distance.
Also, I couldn't use them when working along-side a band where the guitarist was using a transmission system for his guitar.
They have been a great investment as I attach a Mackie SRM150 and stick a speaker in a bar area if away from the dancefloor.
    All the best
