    Default Will my lights do?

    Hi All,

Just built my 4' Rhino, and wired up the lights to test. (All linked via DMX cables, seems to work well)

Lights consist of 2 x mojo spinmaster 1 (one at each end), and 4 x mojo spinmaster 3 in the middle.

This is going to be my lighting rig. Should this do me?

I've a presentation/disco coming up soon, as well as a couple of young birthdays, and a wedding.

I'm hoping that these will suffice.

Opinions / suggestions please. (I know I've not tied the cables up, this was just a test)

    Many thanks
    Edward.

    Look good.

Those barrel things are very hectic! I bought a couple of them when i started.
I see you are using DMX so hopefully they are under control.

Some colour in there would finish it nicely and warm it up a bit.
Just a couple of washes on the ceiling or uplighting.

A par can or better a couple of TRI bars would be nice.

Excellent lights, those Spin 3s. I used to have some. Only downside to four barrels/two scanners is that they're heavy!

Toby's right, some form of wash really helps. In your position, I'd say two barrels, two scanners and two wash lights of some kind would be an excellent rig. Something like the ADJ mega tri par fits the bill.

Yup, they are bloody heavy. A pain to fasten too. Clamps would be a lot easier....

Forgot to mention, I also have a pair of 4 light sequencers, which were not in the picture. Old school sort of stuff, which I kind of like

I'll take a look at the ADJ mega tri par stuff, but a friend of mine used to sell ADJ stuff, and told me to avoid.

What would you do with the tri par, point to the dance floor or the roof?

What's the opinion on here for ADJ lights?

    Cheers
    Edward.

There's certainly plenty of light to go about there!

It depends on the target audience.... I don't like to stereotype, but I find your older clientele prefer nice, easy going moonflower type effects or wash effects, whereas the younger crowds will appreciate sweeping/scanner effects a bit more.

I think ADJ lighting is excellent value for money, and I'm surprised that someone would tell you to avoid!

I'm rapidly finding that I can't avoid ADJ I've had a few ADJ fixtures and they've all been effective and reliable.

I agree with the comments above though, lots of barrel/scan effects will give a very hectic show, it'd be good to have something with less movement in there. I'm going to throw a suggestion for a couple of Chauvet Obsession's into the mix (LED moonflower effect )

    Interesting.

The Mega tri par and the Obsession are roughly the same price.

Or perhaps a ADJ Mega Tri-60 would do (Which would sit nicely top centre of my lighting bar?

    Help!!!!!!

Which would suit my need better?

Sorry - I didn't mean to confuse things, there's too much choice out there when it comes to fixtures as it is! I agree with the comments above that adding a wash effect in with 4 scanners would give you some nice stable light, but both types of fixtures (wash and moonflower) will give you greater flexibility with your show.

I will say though that the pars of any kind are really versatile fixtures - you can put them on the bar, on the floor or use them as uplighting or as strobes (under DMX control). With moonflowers you've limited to putting them on a lighting bar.

Probably best if you just pretend I never suggested the obsessions

Been looking at the ADJ Mega Tri-60 bar, this would go nicely on the top of my lighting bar.

How does this compare to the Mega Tri Pars?

In the broadest posible terms, it's two Tri Par panels stretched out into a straight line. ( 9 LEDs against 10 ) Roughly twice the price, so a six and two threes.
