In my experience, best speaker stands are K&M from Germany, no question. I've had mine for about twelve years now, and watched all my DJ friends buy and buy again cheap aluminium ones which invariably buckle and dent. Quality costs (naturally!) but I cannot recommend K&M stuff highly enough.
If you can find them in the UK, then try to buy from a UK dealer, but Thomann nearly always do the best deals.

They look nice

+1 from me for the Ultimate Support. Pricey, but incredibly stable and very, very well built.

Thanks for your views.
I like the sound of the K&M stands

Does anyone know anything about wind up style stands?
I'm looking for a pair to make like easier for me.
Been looking at NJS Heavy Duty Wind Up DJ Disco PA Speaker Stands which come with a 5 Year Warranty, and have a load rating up to 60kg, which should suit my hisys 2xt's nicely , for about £110 a pair

My only concern with wind up heavy duty stands, were that they were very heavy. For my speakers they were 'over the top' for the weight I was putting on them. Used them twice and sold them on.

I skipped wind up and went for air lift. Much easier (takes more effort to bring them down than put them up!!) and they're still relatively light. There's a few options around for these which cost less than the Ultimate Support ones (similar to your wind up stands) and are even lighter than the ultimate support. Just Google
