Thanks all for your replies, I have rested my mind about this and not worried any longer. I will still take backups with me just in case.

A decent one year old restarted PC should run for days on VDJ, Tractor and Serato IMO.
Don't run any other programmes and make sure its over the recommended specs.
They are not very hungry unless when analysing the tracks so do all of the first as in serato it automatically does it the first time you drop it on. I can watch the CPU thing go into the red when on both decks (8gb ram, 2.4 dual core - pro).
Make sure you use decent hardware and if its in a very warm environment then perhaps a fan is a good idea.
Also that the charger is also not in a confined space as thats the only thing that could over heat.
I am a mac user but i understand windows is not too bad these days?

(HP650 Intel Core i3, 2.2GHZ, 4GB RAM, Windows 8.1) Laptop is not the best but it’s over the recommendation system requirements for VDJ which are (core 2, 1GB RAM, windows 7)
Should be fine all night but that’s a good idea pointing a fan onto it as being in Malta it can be warm.

Funny you should say that, Creature. One of my laptops is prone to overheating, and rather than get it checked and serviced, I too got one of thse. Seemed to keep it cool enough at the last gig.

I find that my laptop seems to get a bit hot when I'm running videos or karaoke. I got myself one of these from Belkin:
