Default How far do you travel for gigs?

I've just tapped the postcode for tomorrow's gig into mr sat nav and been told it's almost bang on a 6 hour drive.

I could get to London in that time

What about you lot, are you happy to go anywhere if the price is right or do you have a time / distance limit on where you're willing to go?

That's crazy unless it's a very well paid gig

I try to stay as local as possible which I encourage by levying a distance charge. They can see how much extra and where I cover on a map on my website. I won't take anything outside my area because I'm plenty busy enough locally. I certainly wouldn't drive 6 hours. But, to be honest, I've never been asked to!

Dare we venture into price thread territory?

I'm being amply renumerated for the gig, distance and travel time.

I would take overnight accommodation if it were me. 6 hours there. set up. Do, what, 5hr gig?. 6hrs back again. Sounds dangerous!

Or maybe I'm the only one daft enough to take it on?

Think a rebrand to Scotland's (within reason) Party DJ

Max normally about an hour to 90 minutes for me, depending on how much they're going to pay and what sort of time I plan on getting home (wouldn't want to be out of a venue at say 01:30 then have a 90 minute drive home)

    Hi Jim
I did a quote for that job too. A bit far for me... but added on a fair fee to cover costs. I doubt they book me.
Furthest I have traveled is Harrogate and also Manchester. (From Edinburgh)

I once quoted for a job up in Fort William. It was for a small wedding for 35 guests. I really didn't want the job so quoted a ridiculous price... and they booked!!
    All the best

I'll have to try that one - I'm up in Fort William at the start of September (there's a big lump of granite that I have a score to settle with). Would be worth getting a gig just to pay for the diesel up there
