    Default Wired Mic

    Ok,

So I'm switching from my wireless mics to a wired one and only using my wireless when I have an all day wedding and they're using it for speeches etc. any recommendations? Been looking at the Numark one, anyone used it/heard it

Slightly dearer, but here's another option
I haven't used the PG48, so can't vouch for it. Many on here are more than happy with it. The next model up SM58 doesn't suit my voice, but I love the SM58 Beta. That's not cheap, sadly.
Here's my My weapon of choice. One of these days, I'm going to try the 835 or 845 for size.

Check out Audio Technica too, and Andy Neen has an AKG of some description which is lovely.

As we always say: Try before you buy. What suits one persons voice may not suit another.

I've never heard that model, but I've never heard a Numark mic that I rated, IMO the best budget buy is the Shure PG58 which at around £45 including a 4.5M cable, carry case and a stand mount is a bargain, personally I prefer it to the legendary Shure SM58 at twice the price. If purchased from Thomann you would also get a 3 year guarantee thrown in. I would strongly advise you to resist the urge to buy a cut price Shure mic off the 'bay' there is a huge amount of fakes floating around, they may look the same, but they certainly don't sound the same.

I swear by the sm58 beta but, as already said, try them out and get the one that suits you.

Well said Mark. I use the sm58 beta wired and uhf and as they have a better top end handling they are well know as a vocalists mic.

Ahem. While we're obviously agreed that the SM58 Beta is a superb mic for speech and vocals, the OP was looking at a sub £20 mic initially. The Beta is over £100 dearer, so I'd guess that even the PG48 is top end of the price range. I think suggestions in the sub £50 range might be more helpful.
The advice to avoid new mics on ebay is good, unless it's from a reputable seller you already know and trust.

Thanks all I'll have a look at that mic and might head into my local store tomorrow to try a few out.

sm58 as per above. will last forever unlike other mikes.

it would be worth getting an XLR wireless converter so it can be wireless too.

A mic is one of the most important tools a DJ uses, regardless of how often you use it. Why you'd want to spend less than £20 on one is beyond me!

The PG58 is around £50 and adequate IMO.

Exactly what I need, a wireless convertor for a SM58. Do you have a link to something suitable?
