    Default Thai music

Bit of a long shot but has anyone done a Thai party before? I have a wedding on Sunday with a number of thai people (most live in the UK) and despite having a big list of the usuals I thought it would be a nice touch to do a set of Thai music. Many thanks.

Best I can do. There's odd one by Pogues and Cure, but no idea if they're wedding friendly. Searches for Thai musically seem to come up with Meditation, rain sounds, and one I think is definitely not wedding friendly: " Muay Thai kick to the face"
Sorry Toby, not much help I fear.

He shoots, he scores. Currently listening, I've heard worse.

Chillout. I'm on a roll, here.

And the dance numbers. Check out the version of the Beatles Day Tripper. Whole thing sounds a bit 60s, not bad at all.

Whatever you do, don't play anything from the soundtrack of 'The King and I', the film is still banned in Thailand as it's considered insulting to Thai people.

I'm assuming the bride is quite young, so she will have been listening to the stuff played in the clubs out there which is heavily influenced by western dance culture ie house, techno etc. as in THIS mix.
If you are looking for something by Thai pop celebs, try the following links to youtube, I think there's download links on youtube for most of them.

Take a look on youtube for 'Thai pop music', 'Thai dance music' and similar search titles BUT be aware of the lyrics, since you don't speak Thai there's possibility of them being inappropriate for a wedding.
Since only the bride and her Thai friends attending the wedding will understand keep your eyes on them for signs of disapproval.
It's a pity you didn't enquire earlier in the week, I could have got you the opinion of people I know who are currently living in BANGKOK, unfortunately its now early evening out there so I doubt I'll get any replies, but I'll give it a try.

I did a wedding back in January that was 95% Thai people.

All they wanted was commercial R&B like Rhianna and Beyonce and cheese - a lot of cheese!

They wasn't shy for requests either, it turned into a proper Stilton fest.

They loved every minute of it.

    thanks everyone.

You have hit the nail on the head with a couple of them as the couple have added them in as requests.
I have a lot of western R&B but want to personalise it as much as possible and surprise them.

Funny seeing Santana type guitar solos in pop music these days. Really like this music. Its a lot like the Spanish rock/POP bands.
