    Default Truss Totems

Lighting on truss totems - does everyone secure them with brackets/bolts/ratchet straps or something else, or just sit them on there and hope for the best?

I have a feeling I may have asked this a while back too, but can't remember the answers...

When I rarely use mine moving heads just sit on top.
If the truss fell it'd likely damage the light either way

I used ratchet straps when I used my truss totems. The heads I used on them were big and heavy so I wasn't taking any chances.

ratchet straps round the base or the light and stage weights in the base of the truss with a super heavy base, use these at 3m and had no worries even with doorstops like mac 700 on top :-)

Omega brackets attached to the heads, put a bolt though the bracket and top truss plate to secure it to the totem.

Omega brackets is what I am using currently on the Starbursts and the wash moving heads. I have just bought another pair of lighter moving heads and am debating what to use. I also use stage weights in the base of the podiums.

I've had tremendous success stabilising them by the method shown below on solid floors. They're reusable too, and really easy to install with a cordless SDS drill, and a socket set.
Curiously, venue managers haven't been too happy about that. Can't see why.
