That's a shame. I know the Equinox are owned by Prolight, and as part of their branding also have iSolutions, LEDJ, ACME etc. Why so many names is beyond me!!

I do think the DMX2.0 is more user friendly and a better GUI than the others

I use the Entec Open USB via Freestyler (you can make your own fixture files in FS).

I've also got one of the Chamsys ones, but there's a downside to those (unless I'm missing something obvious).

With the Freestyler/Entec system, I can run the lightshow on a seperate laptop which picks up the sound via the inbuilt mic so FS moves on a step in time with the music. I can also put the beatgrid from VDJ through it and step it on that way.

The Chamsys system as far as I can work out needs you to spend a substantial amount of money on another bit of kit to pick up audio etc., and that's what put me off of their system. If I've got that wrong - please let me know what I need to do because all I could get Chamsys to do was move at pre-set times.

Well i have bought a My DMX 2.0 USB and a Chamsys £15 unit. I think the My DMX will be much simpler some how.

I've used the cheaper dongle for a couple of years with no bother. For most people's needs, it's more than enough. If you need to run it for more than 5 hours (the cheaper one has a 5 hour time limit) then it's no good unless you are fine with simply resetting the dongle and starting again (you can do this during a buffet break). Also, if you need more universes then the more expensive version is necessary. But, like I said, the cheaper one will suit most DJ's needs. I only paid £12 incl delivery for mine and it was a bargain!

As for the comments about it not being Sound to Light (S2L), well, I thought that was the whole point of DMX!! I know you can set cue points in the software and use those to trigger scenes and scene changes. I'm sure I've also read somewhere that cues can be S2L controlled but I'm guessing that this feature is for the bigger, professional lighting desks that Chamsys make (the prices of some will make your jaw hit the floor!! ). But, for a tenner, the dongle and MagicQ are a fantastic bargain as in introduction to the world of DMX.

I am going to give DMX a darn good go. Being a Tech guy i am hoping will help me

I've had a play with the software and it looks quite complex, the ADJ My DMX 2.0 software looks a lot more user friendly but time will tell.

Had a play with both MYDMX and Magic Q and the chamsys looks very, very complex. I've watched some videos and tutotials and i am not sure this is something i can get to grips with.

The MYDMX looks promising but i am awaiting profiles for the two lights i have before i can really see what it's about. It does not look as simple as i thought lol.

I can see why the Chap i got the my dmx 2.0 never got to grips
