I've got a Denon DN2500F not doing anything right now. It's still boxed (box isn't in the best condition after being stored in my old house's loft for years), has been gigged a fair bit but works fine. One player had a new pickup fitted a good few years ago & the controller cable has seen better days but is electrically fine. I've even still got the manual somewhere, but the system is missing the original RCA cables.

£30 plus postage.. unless you can collect from DL4 ? If you're interested I'll take some pics of it for you tonight.

Why not get a cheap controller like a second hand Cortex or a D2 with a hard drive if you are twitchy over computers--my Cortex has been totally reliable apart from a new start button for 10 years.

All that lugging CDs around is a distant memory

I considered a cortex but have heard horror stories about the buttons and players freezing mid song and I can't find a d2 or dds anywhere for love nor money :/

Well the buttons can be replaced im sure as someone ( I think Julian ) said they are standard items, mine I got from a Cortex dealer years ago and had them fitted.

Sadly the Cortex support team is now disbanded.

You can use the keyboard to start playing tracks.

If the unit freezes its unlikely to be the unit in my experience---its a corrupted file.

Only happened once on a file which was a dodgy download from many years ago--ooops

I did have a cross track problem which happens when you have too many tracks in one folder on your hard drive.

I really cant fault my two Cortex.

Buttons don't freeze mid song. They wear out, and don't always work. If you get a lightly used unit, you'll be fine.
    One in Harrogate.

    He's got two.

Re freezing songs, order your hard drive correctly ( one folder deep, a thousand songs per folder ) Run everything from a Belkin powered hub, and it's rock solid.

    D2 slightly over budget
