    Default Dealing with spam.

I've recently gotten a tonne of spam. Using thunderbird does eliminate spam quite well when I'm on desktop pc and once I open thunderbird on pc it sits it all out. however when I sign in on my phone it's a flood of spam.

Thunderbird don't have a phone app

Other than leaving my pc on all day to deal with spam any solutions?

Get a better email provider - one with spam filtering as standard so all suspect spam goes in a spammy spam folder

On a serious note, I moved provider and it got a lot better.
I also route all my emails through an email app so don't get much at all in the main inbox.

Unsubscribe from any emails you don't want and are not dodgy. I have a busy inbox an don't appreciate crap emails.
And get an email that you would not mind deleting and use that for online services like confused or RAC membership etc.

I don't get actual emails in the spam box now which is key. it used to think my website enquiries were spam!!
Took me 2 weeks to work out why I was not getting any enquiries, bloody crap hosting.

Yer I've got 3 email addresses I use mainly. Maybe worth setting up another just strictly for client contact.

Who are the good email providers for this? I'm just using a direct connection from the host using imap.

I also get loads from my live.co.uk and Hotmail accounts

Thats probably the route of yer problem? I only use dedicated website emails, of which I have 6 I use and 3 I don't really need as they are not used domains (like my www.bogfrog.co.uk one). I only tend to get pain in the butt emails from other Hotmail users mainly. As per my host I got fished. not sure what that is but can grasp the main concept.

If their firewall is that bad then move to a decent host. Online rating sites are best for that.

You mean I haven't really got 12 new messages in my personal inbox on a Russian porn site??

In all seriousness, I host everything with UKReg (aka FastHosts), and don't get too many problems to be honest. Yes, a few get through the net (maybe one a day). I also as Toby says, have dedicated addresses for stuff like Go-Compare etc. (because just looking at their site gives them permission to send everything and anything to you!).

In my day job, we've just migrated everything to Gooooooogle (the domain and email is hosted by FastHosts and then batted over to the Google servers). Before the migration, we hosted our own internal MS Exchange server (bain of my life) and got persistant spam. Now it's all handled by Google, Spam is virtually a thing of the past, and for something like £3 per user per month, it's a no-brainer. I'm actually looking at setting up my own account for the disco business because of the 30gb storage space you get on Google Drive.

I have an OUTLOOK account only used for Contracts and quotes.

That seems to have avoided spam for a couple of years--other than previous customers who try to spam me with links to their money making scams

I have had a yahoo account since 2005 which does attract a lot of spam but has never let me down.

I would not go with g mail as some years ago suddenly my account got hacked and I could not access anything even using my secret personal information----terrible.

    WHO ARE YOU -----FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Years later it suddenly became live again --go figure !!!!!
