    Default There's the photographer...HIDE!!!!

I got questioned over the weekend by a 'tog as to why I duck behind the Liteconsole during the first dance. Simply put, I don't want to be caught in those images of what is usually such an intimate moment to be shared with friends and families and not some random bloke/gal in the back of shot. I think the DJ being there spoils the shot.

After the first dance is a different scenario, as it's a party but during the first dance...nah. So that got me thinking - what is everyone else's stance on this?

    Poll attached for comedy purposes.

    I can't see any poles?

I'm normally out on the dance floor with them shaking some top moves to get the First Dance going a little bit

This forum makes you post the thread before you get to the poll bit.

    Very odd.

Surprising the first time, but you get used to it.

Benny, you're assuming that the tog will get you in shot. I'd expect good ones to merely have the B&G in shot.

Is that always possible? A B&G dancing in a venue with grand features in front of a disco with great lighting, I know (were I photographing the wedding) that I'd want a few shots with all that in there.

I do duck behind sometimes if I see the one and only tog shooting with me in the background.

OK, I'll expand on that. What's the problem if we do appear in shot? We're scrubbed up, and in best bib and tucker. ( Or if we're not we damn well should be. Sits back and waits for indignant replies from the logoed polo shirt brigade. ) While I accept that we're not the focus of attention at this point, I see no reason to hide.

I usually point out that if I'm included in a shot, royalties will be due.

I know I've appeared in a few wedding photo backgrounds & I don't mind. What I would mind (and it's only happened once or twice so far) is actually being deliberately papped. I hate that. Not sure why - I just do.

The couple who live virtually next door to me who got married in what's now my residency - they sent me a thankyou card with a photo of them with me in the far background - and I know for a fact the photographer has shopped the photo - for one thing you can't see the skewer through a wooden block my old gaffer provided to hold one of the speaker stands up!

Same here Justin - it happens quite a bit and I hate it (I don't like having my photo taken at the best of times, let alone when I'm trying to work and the Tog's trying to stick a massive lens in my face).

Maybe they're just trying to capture every little detail of the couple's big day? I don't know. All I know is that I detest having my photo taken almost as much as I hate hearing my own voice over the PA

Well only one option for me isn't there. And I am somehow winning the poll ATM too

I stay in the shot, if they don't want me in the photo they take the photo from the other way, which is the case most the time. If I had a spectacular lightshow (i.e. a beam lighting their heads up), screen with their name, light up love letters or decorative feature behind me and i was asked then i would probably move aside after hitting play and join the guests until I need to invite people on etc.

It has never happened mind you. I know most the decent local photographers and they would not hesitate to ask if it was a problem.

I think having a DJ in shot is not too bad. Not sure about the bloke outside though.
Sorry You said for me to post a photo, this is obviously a guests photo.
