Meatloaf's Bat Out Of Hell for an older couple. I was asked to play a soppy slow song at the start of the dance (can't remember which one!) and then backspin in to Meatloaf after about 45 seconds. They had their routine planned and it worked brilliantly. This was also the wedding where the old folk (and I mean old - 80+) were up dancing to Children Of The Night!!!
The other stand out track was when I was asked to do a mashup of DJ Sammy's Heaven (Candlelight Mix) with Sugarhill Gang's Apache!! I only got asked the night before the wedding (they had a last minute idea!!) and I didn't want to mashup live for a first dance so I was up most of the night putting a mix together. In the end it was worth it as they'd worked out a routine which everyone joined in with and it went down well. Very strange chopping back and forth between the two songs (which couldn't be any more different!) but it worked in the end!

Born to make you party!
30 seconds of Kylie and Jason 'Especially for you' followed by an intentionally rough crash into 'I'm gonna be 500 miles'.
Dear Prudence by The Beatles.
One of the guests came up to me afterwards and asked me if I'd chosen it
I like the song but I think it's a strange one to go for as a first dance.
I also had a couple go for Absolute Beginners by David Bowie many moons ago.
Paul Kalkbrenner - Sky & Sand
Its actually a great tune bit not quite first dance material.
I've had a few where the Bride & Groom have wanted to be a bit 'creative' and have asked me to mix something up for them. Here are some that I can remember.
The Groom at one pre-wedding meeting said "I want a few seconds of the worst song ever (Celine Dion's 'My Heart Will Go On'), and then I want it to suddenly go into 'Greatest Day' by Take That". I did it and it worked well.
This next one was quite embarrassing really as there are anoraks and then there are premier league anoraks and this couple were top of the premier league. They were HUGE Dr Who fans and requested the theme from Dr Who to go into Doctorin' The Tardis. They enjoyed it, so did a few of their guests but I cringed a bit.
That wedding especially was a Monday night wedding and the only time people really got up to dance was either when there were Dr Who related tracks or total cheese.
(I had to play the new Dr Who theme when they cut their Tardis wedding cake!).
There are lots of others but I won't bore you.....
Probably the strangest one of all for me was when the (very nervous) Bride & Groom still hadn't decided on a first dance and it was now 5 minutes before they were due to be on the dance floor. The Bride said "Have you got the Hokey Cokey? That will do!".
There were lots of young kids in attendance that evening and it went down really well. The Bride & Groom were in the middle of a massive circle.
Only problem with that was that the kids enjoyed it so much, I had them coming over to me for the following 2 hours or so asking me to play it again.
