Default Water Ripple Projector - Help

    Hi All

Wasn't really sure where to post this, but the 'MDD Chat' section seemed as good as anywhere...

My lovely wife has decided she wants to make a 'Zen' room in the spare room of our house. Somewhere she can exercise (think Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi etc.) and just generally chill out.

We've just spent the weekend at Center Parcs in Sherwood and she saw a 'Water Ripple' effect projector in the Spa area and declared that she would like one to create ambience.

So, I am now on a quest and have been given a list of criteria for said projector... Must be quiet and absolutely no fan noise (LED I guess), preferred variable speed for the 'Ripples', preferred colour change but with option of single colour, finally it must look like rippling water and the pattern should vary. She doesn't want much

A simple Google search shows up a few at varying prices, but I wondered if anyone had any first hand experience with these and would be prepared to make a recommendation?

I've not used one of these LED type projectors before and am unsure of brightness (how bright would a 12w LED be?). I have seen this one as an example: http://www.ukdiscolighting.co.uk/ame...ect-5246-p.asp

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers

    Jem

That would be perfect for a room in a house.
I have used one of them in a larger function suite and even then its visible on the ceiling.
No noise i don't think from memory? Perhaps you can hear the motor going round, but some soothing music would sort that.
Getting the LED strips on a slow change would be nice. You can get coving specially for it.

I do Yoga twice a week and you can hear the goings on of the leisure centre even at 8pm, so may suggest this also.

Thanks for your reply Toby, very much appreciated.

It sounds as though i'm on the right track with that projector I linked to. I guess it's a balance between brightness and heat, but there's no point in overkill on the LED wattage if this will suffice. Thanks also for the link for the LED strip and cornice, that's a really great idea and one that I *may* suggest at some point when I would have time to fit the thing up

Thanks again, and if anyone else feels like chipping in before I place an order please do so

    Thanks again

    Jem

No problems only too happy to help.

i have another idea. LED trees are a nice touch and very zen, perhaps also with a nice water feature, for the sound.

It's all cheap crap above, so depends how much you want to spend really.
10 watt lighting effect for the H20 will be fine.

You can get some awesome wallpaper these days! We did a winny the poo one in the kids room, However It might start to look like Inspector Clouseu's flat after cato thought he died in the pink panther. So less might be more, otherwise it may look a bit naff.

Personally, I would probably choose the LED coving lighting, wallpaper, little water feature and maybe a candle powered smelly oil thing?? And lastly a Bose dock with some great music on it. The H20 is a big chunk, you could do it all for the the cost of that one light and have a really nice ambiance.

I remember a few years Images up in Scotland used to sell the effects projectors (fire, water, etc). They used to start from around £80 if I remember correctly. I've used them before but never got round to owning my own.

I'll see if I can dig some links up later this evening when I get home.

    That's the one! Thanks, Steve!

We've bought a fair bit from Images in the past and I'd happily recommend them. However, I couldn't find these projectors on their site currently.

I have a pair of the H2o lights and they are great. I took them off my top bar a few months ago.
Great little lights with good effects. You can stick them on a static colour or rotating colours.
Not sure how loud the fan is as I only had them on when the music was playing lol.
    I'd recommend them.
If I didn't like them so much I'd put them up for sale.
