Default Adwords - yes or no ?

What are the latest thoughts on whether adwords are worth the cost ?

I have dabbled before but never had a proper strategy as personally if I am searching for anything I never use anything that crops up through adwords, so not sure if worthwhile.

I rank very high for many search terms already (i.e. top 6 listings) so not sure if I would benefit or not, however many businesses swear by adwords, even of their website already ranks well.

Obviously the internet changes quickly so only really looking for responses from people who have experience in the last few months

If you've not used adwords before they often send £50 or £75 free credit as an incentive.

I spent a lot of money with adwords and I believe it's worth it. But I must spend around £30 per booking on adwords alone.

For my dance floor I've spent near £150 on adwords and got 2 bookings linked into it, plenty of clicks though. Odd!

It was the free credit which made me rethink.

£30 per booking is viable to me (that is what I allow per booking whether it be a wedding fayre, ads etc).

The click throughs is something I don't really understand, my website is the same, plenty of hits but I am still unsure how many are genuine, how many are crawlers etc and how many are other DJs having a nose lol.

My freebie has been if I spend £25, they will give me £75 free, so maybe worth a punt
