I was gonna say that, but didn't want to start another genre war!!

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned Jamiroquai (*amongst others) - funk didn't just die after the 80s!

No! but all the proper funk came from the 70's nowdays you could even say that some amy winehouse tunnes are funk abut all the real stuff came fro the 70's

most of the stuff in that post was disco stuff

cant get my head around some of the things put into diffirent genres these days!
I.e r "n" b nowdays aint nothing like the r n b I know, even the ganster rap aint real, it used to have a proper message but now it's just about guns and rubbish like that! nasty music I don't play any of it!

i was lucky enough to spend most of my youth in the 70's when there was some real wicked music and there was so many difirent type's too everything from pink floyd to bob marley and it all used to get played at gigs too
    Sorry showing my age!

    LOL!

I wonder if Maceo & The Macks called it 'Rare Groove' when they recorded it......Funky enough for me but granted probably shouldn't be in the Top 10!

Talking of rare groove, loved: The Jackson Sisters - I Believe In Miracles.
I'd love to get the chance to play that again!! That's pretty funky, just listened to it........very funky intro.

I detest that Maceo & Macks track, it is utter !!!!

The horrible screeching in it goes right through me, I don't find it musical at all

'I Believe In Miracles' is excellent though, as is the instrumental remix by Basement Jaxx (Miracles Keep On Playin')

Funnily enough, I have both those tracks on a 12" single when they were released as a double a during the 80s.
