That's the difference isn't it. Its all about dialogue and agreeing to what can be done. I don't mind a friend/family singer of comic or compere using my 2nd mic, but I object to paid acts coming along, seeing me there and assuming they can simply use my PA. One singer even asked me if I had any backing tracks with me.
I don't like gear being attached to mine though for the fear of damage, physical or acoustic, plus the risk of detaching the wrong cable when they are packing away.
If I'm the one in charge of plugging in I'm sure as hell gonna be in charge of unplugging them too.

Working with Joe Reeve in a few weeks for a gig in Sunderland. I will be in touch with him soon to discuss things. i actually thought they wouldn't need to plug in unless they were playing alongside in a large venue or a loud venue (nightclub etc)
happy for him to plug in if i know about it in advance
