    Default Projectors!!!

On the look out for a projector but i have a set of needs and finding a website that can throw up a projector to match is becoming a pain in the bottom...

    my requirements are:
    – Lumens (4000+):
    – Contrast ratio (over 8,000:1):
    – Keystone (BOTH horizontal & vertical keystone):
    – Resolution (at least 1280×800):
    – Zoom (at least 1.3x): .
    - USB playback facility (Not essential but would be a big bonus)

Does anyone know of a projector off the top of their head or a website that has a huge range and great filter options to narrow them right down?

points and a pint for the person who sets me on the right path.

What is it to be used for ? Monogram projection, slideshows, music videos ?

Think I've finally found a site if anyone is interested. projector central has excellent filter options, although it is american you still get the names to search for.

There is a Living Motion Monograms facebook group which is worth joining.

To be honest with you, for this purpose the only really good projector I found was the the Optoma EH515. There is a catch - the £3k price tag

The EH505 is passable but still around the £2k figure.

I played about with loads of different projectors and all were a lot more inferior. Fine if you get a nice light coloured wall, but a parquet dancefloor is a totally different challenge.

Problem I have now is, such an investment I am looking for a return, which just isn't happening.

Have to agree with ppentertainments. It's been about 18 months since I last did a monogram projection and I can't even remember the last person who asked about one before that. £100 for a proper projected image gobo too so not exactly breaking the bank and excellent quality.

Unless you've got a really good way to sell those (and I'm not convinced animated ones are enough tbh) then it's not an investment to me.

I use an Optoma EH something or other as that was the projector of choice on the living monogram group. Cost me £2000. Its great, but I at least expected it to handle a stand alone video/photo slideshow (it also got discontinued right after I bought it). Having inbuilt android would have been nice, but my media player (powered from the usb) is not too much hassle.

For the amount it gets used I some times think I could have bought a second hand Sony or something with slightly less lumens for £5-700 and it would still do a good job. Or a Chinese one, which seem to be ram packed with all sorts of cool features. I liken it too my (good old tried and tested) Mercedes vs a new untested Jap car (cheaper with all the gismos).
