Default Small PA needed, Dave or similar.

And before anyone asks what's wrong with my Mauis, well nothing that six feet of razor wire couldn't cure! With one venue and crowd, they could get bashed about. Currently, my inelegant answer is to stack two stingers on a bass bin, and strap the lot together.

The ideal solution is something like a Dave, or HK rig, with tops I can fly from the uprights on the DSB, on Ultimax horns. Doesn't have to be a dedicated rig, one or two twelve inch subs and a pair of eight or ten inch tops would work equally well, with active cabs. Main requirement is light weight tops.

Not looking to spend megabucks, or an ES 503 would be here now. All suggestions considered, thanks.

If you are buying new then the Thomann Box CL range is ideal.

New wasn't the preferred option, Toby, but if I were to buy new, then the Thomann kit is a strong contender. I feel a phone call to Bishop Sound is in order, just in case they have something suitable.

Meanwhile, I'll keep my eyes open. Thanks.

Love a bit of Thomann, I always find it great for finding new systems as they can often have some small but very good companies, especially the German ones. Even so as you say second hand Dave is probably the best option. I have had mine for years and years without one problem. I recon if you posted on MDN someone will have one lying about not being used.

    Hi Peter,

I was clearing the Garage out today and found my Dave 10 inch system.

Its in bits mind as the driver was broken when I moved, so it will need a replacement driver. Tops have hardly ever been used so if you fancy a project its yours for £50 plus courier. Obviously sold as not working, but the tops usually fetch fast least £20 each on their own. covers included too.

Just to wrap this one up, due to a lot of help from The redoubtable Mr Neen, Davesounds, and Ebay, I now have a rig.

First to arrive was a pair of s/h 8" Dragon Spirit speakers, from Ebay. These were picked up one Wednesday night, and taken swiftly through to Liversedge, where at a bi-monthly meeting, Dave and Matty lashed them up to a portable rig of his for an open air concert! ( The car park, on an extension cable)

Dave's Chevin amp seemed a tad low powered for the task, but the Bose one Andy supplied definitely brought more out of the little Dragons, so that was halfway there.

Recently, due to a spot of equipment relocation, I intended to take possession of a 12" Studiomaster sub, also from Andy. Turns out it had grown a bit on the road down from Cumbria, and by the time it got to me, it was a 15" sub! My memory must have been at fault, but no matter, it will have slightly more flexibility, as it has already been out under the 12" Stinger tops, and acquitted itself admirably.

So, I now have what I need, I hope. I'll keep you posted as to how it performs. Thanks Lads.
