    Default Oh...So That Happened?

Apparently, I am the English Wedding Awards 2022 DJ of the year.

I say "Apparently" because nobody told me. Nor did I do anything to be put forward for consideration.

    So...yay for me, I guess?

    Congratulations Benny, richly deserved.

    However:

I am less than impressed to find you can get an award for being a Stationary Supplier. You'd think they could at least travel a bit.

Anyone experiencing a whoosh moment may want to Google the difference between Stationary and Stationery.

They could at least have bought a relevant domain. Or any domain.

There are loads of similar ones now - the worrying thing is I think some DJs believe them lol. I have been one of the top 3 rated DJs in my area for the past 7 years because I completed an online form one night while waiting to get into a venue - no further communication or nothing, I just keep winning

It is a shame as the genuine schemes are great - I used to enter, and did win a genuine one, however the use of it was purely the feedback received from couples and judges.

The actual award, although a nice trophy type, does nothing for business at all.

I had so many emails about these awards from a Bruce I think.

The suppliers seem to be legit, at least the ones from around here.

Congrats, it's something to stick on the website at least.

I haven't even filled in the form, and I have been nominated. Think I won one, Jules said to bin it, sceptical git.
Benny's lucky he's a Southerner, as I'm now in the running for Northern Awards something or other.

Oh, awards can be very good for business.

Whilst it *alone* won't get you business, awards can be very good for social proof, and can differentiate you against a competitor.

An award got me free press coverage...

I've won the Scottish one twice, been nominated the past 5 years.

They do ask for an evidence submission when you've been shortlisted so you might just have had excellent votes from couples alongside your online presence to get you over the line?

I don't court for it and don't question it, It's a nice night out with my wife on the tax payer and putting that little badge on your website is a very good idea business wise...

Side note if there's any DJs that don't particularly like you (perish the thought) they will be absolutely fizzing that you win it, or so I'm told

A few years ago I would agree, now there are so many though I’m not so sure

Most don't know how to use the award to market themselves.

It's still something that very few DJs actually get involved with, and you'll find at a local level, very few DJs display awards on their website.

It just helps provide a point of difference.
