    Default Floor protection

I've hit on a weird situation where I've been booked to provide a dance floor and the venue is insisting that a protective layer is put over their antique wooden floor before the dance floor is laid.

I did have a supplier lined up to do the booking and they've now walked away because of the venues requirements and now I'm struggling to find anyone who can help. What I think I'm going to end up doing is buying some kind of carpet or underlay to protect the floor and taking the liability for any damage to the floor in order to persuade my original supplier to provide the floor as contracted.

Does anyone have any experience of something similar with a venue? Does anyone have any advice about what to use as a barrier/protective layer for the floor?

    Help!

Yes, I've had this a few times.

Often the venue provide matts or carpeting, so worth checking with them first in case you don't need to buy anything.

The requirement is more aimed at bands, as drummers in particular can cause damage to wooden floors.

Essentially they just don't want deep scratches on the floor. A piece of carpet or rubber matt will suffice fine. I purchased rubber matts from b&q for this purpose and has worked just fine.

    Old marquee carpet will work.
I personally have a few sheets of the floor protection sheet from wickes and just pop it down first if they ask for it - A bit pointless but it's no big deal for me.

Thanks all, I've bought a load of PU carpet underlay. One of my kids might get a new carpet after this gig
