Well I have been doing this for a couple of years now without any problems.
When you constantly fold it and unfold it you got more chance of putting strain on the wiring inside and the Led's becoming loose, as previously mentioned they simply plug in and the slightest tug will cause them to fail.

Got to say I was with Peter on this, but the wires and connections are so puny you could have a good point. I actually tried flight casing mine in an oversize case, still had problems - ironically though, the micro one which I now use mostly I have never had problems with.
