Get Lucky
Blurred Lines
Uptown Funk
Billie Jean
Apache/ice ice baby
I can't remember the last time I played Summer of 69.
Tunes I almost always play:
The Proclaimers - 500 Miles. There was a stint about 18 months ago where a lot of couples were demanding it wasn't played. Fine by me but ing hell if you didn't get grief from someone every time it wasn't played.
Same with Loch Lomond by Run Rig. I have a little script / spiel I do prior to the end of the night along the lines of - "it's the couple, or as I like to call them, the people who have fed and watered you all days wedding. They don't want to end on it and I'm the person pushing play so if you've got a problem with the last song, come and annoy me about it and leave the b&g alone" You'd be surprised how many people actually take me up on that when it's basically a polite way of saying "it's not getting played, the couple don't want to hear it"
Proud Mary
Mr Brightside
Little Respect
Come On Eileen
Don't Stop Me Now
Bits and Pieces
Those are played nearly every gig but outside of that I try to mix things up and throw in surprises here and there - I've 20k odd songs on my MacBook, I don't need to play Uptown Funk or I Wanna Dance With Somebody to get people up dancing.
I agree with this as I was coming towards the end of my first spell mobile DJ'ing I noticed how certain songs were becoming tiresome. Firstly for me having to play them every week but then also some of them as my banker songs wouldn't get the reaction they always did. Brown Eyed Girl was one. Also as someone else has said I'd often done the Summer of 69 / Living On A Prayer combo. I also find it it interesting to hear Proud Mary is a thing though. I never used to play that one very often. I'm getting the feeling that when I eventually get back out there after also having had a long break I will also find that many things are still the same. It's not all bad though as it'll probably help me get back into the swing of things and I think I'll have more chance to experiment with other song choices this time around.

Proud Mary is one you need to be sure of because of the quiet and long intro. It's a great song to entice people onto the floor if you've not got much going on as it allows plenty of people to get on and join in the mad dancing part. It's also finishes with an uptempo finale so you can use it as a springboard to kick off a floorfiller mini set.
I scanned your post this morning all bleary eyed thinking EH? THE DAVE CLARK FIVE - really?! LOL no of course you meant Artemesia Doesn't get played enough IMHO.
I had Loch Lomond come up at a few weddings this way & the last one the bride's mother was very much involved in everything. She insisted on LL for the last song & it went down like a followthrough in a lift even with the B&G. I binned it & guessed a much better choice - and scored. I've met that bride's mother a few times since - she's with a band. The less said about that the better
Hot cue and edit out the long speaky bit, so it goes - You know, left a good job in the city. I also have set up a hot cue where the fast bit starts.
Its huge where I work in North Linconshire, one of the favourite requests (well, it was, nobody has asked for it for 3 months).
