Default The one after the first dance.

Kind of inspired by the "What is your end of night closing song?" thread (Why isn't it in the Music forum?) & my choice of song on Saturday, what are some notable tracks that you've started the night proper after the B&G's first dance at a wedding?

On Saturday, I played "The Hokey Cokey".

On a very regular basis, I follow with Build Me Up Buttercup, seems to cross most ages and tastes. Biggest problem is keeping it going in the one after that, because everyone thinks they've done their duty, and wanders off to the bar for a top up!

Same rut as me, except I occasionally use Don't Stop Me Now by Queen

Let's not forget, it's only a "rut" for us.

There aren't many songs capable of doing a good job of keeping a dancefloor of people for a song.

You're looking for something that all ages know and works after what is usually a slow song.

Uptown Funk, I Gotta Feeling and Shut Up and Dance are my three "go to" tracks.

Had Agadoo once from a bride because she used to dance to it with her Dad at Butlins - it was the only cheesy action song of the night - but worked because of the story.

Especially if it's a 7pm/7:30pm first dance, it's tough because in most cases there isn't the pent up desire to start dancing.

All I try and do is keep as many people on the dancefloor as possible for the first 2 or 3 songs so the photographer gets some decent dancefloor shots before they head home.

Haven't done a lot of weddings about 25 when I have had the chance I encourage people to gather around the dance floor for the first dance, then encourage them to join the couple towards the end of the first dance and go into love is all around or something similar to keep them all dancing together.

80% of the time I use Signed, Sealed, Delivered or You to Me Are Everything.

Exactly my thought process as no doubt you've got something like food, fireworks or a photobooth to come along and drag enough more people off the dancefloor early doors.
