Greetings Chaps and Angela,
I have been given the wedding fare some thought and I was wondering if:-
1) Are they worth the effort?
2) If you do wedding fares what exactly do you take as far as equipment/litriture etc

well ive tried 2 approaches
1. take my set up and talk to b and gs so they can see exactly what they arre getting giving out leaflets and putting keyrings in the goodie bags given out at the door.
2. taken some good quality pictures at gigs and short movies of the set up and taken a tv and done like a slideshow type thingfor people to watch.
and given out leaflets etc.
both seemed to work well with wedding fayres its always worth asking if they will reduce/wave the fee if you do background music and commentry for a fashion show.
also be very careful which fayres you do ive done some with 100+ brides through the door and one total disaster where we had 6 all day !!!!!

they are worth it, i do about 7 a year and i do get alot of work from them, but i do have an advantage as i supply the lighting and sound for the fasion shows. this means i get the full attention of the brides, the deal for me is i supply the sound and light for the show for a free stand.
i have my stand loaded with pics and cards for people to view and help themselfs, if they wish to speak to me they have that chance before the show and after.
the only thing i would say is before you book any stand is check how many other disco's are going to be there.
and as far as equipment goes not many place will let you play music (unless it is very low) but you can take a couple of lighting effects to make your display stand out,
so in all i would say it is worth doing.

look but don't touch touch but don't taste
taste but dont swallow
I have my first one coming up in april. Free stand as i am providing the sound and lighting for the fashion show and i am the only disco there this time o yes lol so i am more than likely to get bookings from it. Thanks for the info guys i will use it will update you after it to let you know how it goes.
Many thanks for your imput Jay mate,

Is there much of a pre-teen wedding market then Gary?
Wedding Fayres are worth doing if you want to get into that market.

Just got back from a Wedding Fayre in Wolverhampton.
I provide staging and sound (sometimes lighting too) for the shows, and offer a good price in return for advertising our services.
I usually take a big batch of cards and a few A4 sized photos to show clients, although in the past I have also used a Laptop with a presentation showing photos and video footage.
Regards,
Jamie
