Default 'Day job' Vs this forum

For those of you with an unrelated day job, how much time do you spend on here when you should be doing work elsewhere, for someone else employing you? How many hours of your dayjob do you waste on here?

There are certain people that appear to be on here a lot during the day and it makes me wonder how many hours their employer must lose during a week.

Well I do this full time so mainly I am on the internet around 7 hours a day. I am taking enquiries and replying to them either by phone or email and also keeping up to date with what is happening on the forums and in the world of DJing as well as looking for the odd bargains both equipment wise and music wise. I never was allowed on the internet at my job in the past but now I do what I like and when I like.

Guilty as charged, I am a boiler service engineer with a PDA & I'm not afraid to use it.

I do have the excuse of being on the road so have plenty of time to check new posts etc.

    It's very addictive!!!

Can't use smilies though so have to LOL alot!

    LOL

    Day job?

    What's that?

I usually stay logged into this forum all the time...but that doesn't mean I'm always here.

Having said that, I probably spend at least 2 or 3 hours a day reading the forum & posting on it.

    I'm addicted!

...........you know, it's one of those things that lets me do the DJing thing for the fun of it! LOL

I can put much of the gig money back into the kit side of things because of my day job.

I could go professional with a bit of planning but I really enjoy my day job as well, I'm a happy man!

Thing is the DJ thing's now got quite a big concern. Being part of 'The Party Shop' (Fancy Dress & all things Party!) has taken it a higher level.

The way I see it is you have got to try & be happy in your work whatever you do & I take my hat off to those of you that do it full time, doing what you love as a living!

Come the weekend we're all out there doing it & loving it, am I right?

Ahhhhh yes, I remember day jobs. In fact, I used to have one...until 3 years ago when I took the plunge & became a full time DJ & pub quiz host.

    Best decision I ever made!

Luckily I'm only "tied down" to an employer a couple of days a week. Couple of days freelancing then the rest is for DJ'in

Most days I'm sat in front of a computer 8-5 so no great shakes hitting the odd forum for inspiration/tea break amusement/whiling the time away whilst sitting on conference calls etc.

I'm always logged on but not always here.

    My day job is for 3 hours a day , monday - friday , 6am - 9am.

I quite like the job I do, but the nepotism does annoy me!!

    Full-time too.

I suppose this forum could be considered a day job, considering the amount of time I spend doing things behind the scenes. Time for my pay rise Darren?.
