As many as you like really!
I'd say a minimum of 2. Personally I use 4 for disco, and then when adding karaoke (which I don't do often) only another channel is used, totaling 5.

Not sure what your play out system is (PC,CD), so not sure how many channels you want for that.

I woud say to have at least two microphone channels but then if two people want to sing, you would be without a microphone yourself. Unless you get a pair of radio mic's into one channel but would advise having control over each microphone gain. So three microphone channels if possible with their own gain contols.

And then at least two channels for your playout system. These can be split between the decks or one channel for each PC etc.

Someone may have better ideas.

I do too, but only on the second rig. Though I don't do karaoke my KAM 1500 has extra facilities which make it much more suitable. Not knocking, just saying.;)

Can I just point out to everyone that this thread is in the Karaoke Forum: therefore I presume that Paul is asking the question "What mixers do you all use for karaoke?" therefore, not much point posting up if you don't do karaoke, or your mixer isn't one that's really suitable for karaoke.

Paul - perhaps you would be kind enough to confirm?

As you currently seem to have several threads on the go asking for mixer advice, I've merged the last 2 together - otherwise it will get VERY confusing!

While I don't ( normally) do Karaoke I have suggested the mixer which I use, as having every facility on it for not only standard discos. but also karaoke. The fact that I don't do karaoke is not in this case relevant, since i have as requested suggested a mixer which fulfills the required criteria. :D

Have you got a button there which will merge all of his threads simultaneously? At one point I was answering the same question on three separate threads! :D

 ... yes, I could merge all of the threads.... simultaneously - no. unfortunately, I can only be on 1 page at a time, and I only have 1 pair of hands :D

If someone would be kind enough to find the other threads they think ought to be merged with this one, I'll have a look and do the business :D :D

Sadly, so can I ! Having answered a question on one thread, I went to the next Forum, and found it posted there, in a marginally different form of words!:bang:

I just use 2channels, 1 to plug the laptop in and 1 to plug the karaoke player into.

Does the mic class as a channel? as on my mixer the mic has its own socket

Works fine for me

I'd recommend the Phonic AM240D... £65 from CPC, part no DP2930528.

It has two mic inputs with on board digital effects, and 4 stereo inputs.

Paul,

I'm starting to get annoyed at your constant use of text talk. Please read the admin note on your original post above, and feel free to post topics using PROPER ENGLISH only.
